Let the Kitchen Remodel Begin!

Our local news here is out of Knoxville, so every time they say there is fog, we never have any! Today they didn't say anything about fog, but we had quite a bit. So far, it's always been above us so we don't really notice it until we get to the top of the hill at the school.
Funny how the mountains still look beautiful in fog! 😊
I hated driving in fog back in Indiana, so I'm hoping it stays above us all of the time!

Today I decided to go shopping. Alone. I tried this last week and only went to two stores before I was bored and went home. Shopping alone is out of my comfort zone. However, we received a flyer from a store that looked interesting and I needed to get out of the house, so I decided to give it a try again.

The store is called Old Time Pottery. This store has everything you can think of and more. If you ever need huge letters for anything, they have you covered. They had not one...
 Not two...
 Not three...
But FOUR huge sections of shelves with big letters.
I haven't really gotten into this craze of ginormous letters, so if you have any brilliant ideas for them, I would love to hear! I can see maybe getting a "J" for Janae's room, but her room is so packed I don't think she even has a space that big to put it!

All that time and I only spent $4 on these two vases for my bathroom. What a steal! I know my Stephie would love these and I was definitely thinking of her when I bought them. Love you Stephie! 😘

After all that window shopping, I went to Tuesday Morning, Burlington Brands which I found out is not the same thing as Burlington Coat Factory (but I did find two shirts for Brett!), a tool shop in search of sandpaper, the smallest Jo-Ann Fabrics I have ever seen in my life, and The Scrapbook Superstore.

Oh my word, this store reminded me so much of when Chris and I used to hit up all the scrapbook stores together. Except it was on steroids. I have never seen so many stickers in my life. I didn't realize people even still used stickers! I'm a stamper so I really have no need for stickers. Brett won't have to worry about me spending too much at this store! 😂

Just walking around this entire store wore me out, so I decided it was time to pick up some Panda Express and head home. By the time I got home, it was almost time to go pick up the boys from school. The days seem to go so fast here!

Today was the first time it was raining when we picked up the boys. The sky was almost completely covered in clouds!

Later in the evening, Janae and I decided to go on a date to Lowe's to get paint for the cupboards. 😂 As we were getting in the truck to leave, I noticed this little fella behind us in the driveway. Not the best video, but I tried! Hopefully you can get it to play...I couldn't. 😑
He didn't even pay any attention to us. He was just interested in getting up that hill!

Since she was such a trooper shopping with me, I took her out for fro-yo at a place I discovered today.
It's funny that those cups look so big because they were so tiny! It was not by the ounce like every other fro-yo place I have been to, but $4.50 for the smallest cup. So we loaded those puppies up! 😁

When we got home, we discovered that Brett had done a ton of work in the kitchen!

Here is the before:

And here is what I came home to! He has been sanding and tearing shelves out like crazy! I bought him a new sander since they don't sell refills for our other one ANYWHERE around here 😡 and he was able to finish the rest in no time. He is what I would call a sanding professional. 😊

While he was sanding, I got to work painting. We're replacing the lower cabinets and only painting the wall cabinets. The bottom cabinets will be dark gray and the wall cabinets are light gray. They're looking pretty good so far!  I, on the other hand, am a hot mess! 😨
I probably spent a half hour trying to scrub the paint off of my arms and legs. I am a messy painter!

And my poor hubby has aged about 20 years from all that sanding. 😁

Finally, I found this gem that Talan took. I told him he couldn't be in a picture since he didn't do any work, but it looks like he snuck one in anyways! 😊

Wow, it's nearly 1:00 and we're just heading to bed. Good thing there is no school tomorrow for the long holiday weekend. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a sleep-late day!

  1. You live in Knoxville; that is interesting. I once lived in Pigeon Forge, just about an hour from there. We drove to Knoxville and it is a nice town. That letter store looks really fun and interesting. I like the big letters and would buy them for sure. What girl doesn't love shopping? I know I do.

  2. That is an insane amount of giant letters! A neighbor of mine had a giant “T” above her door for her last name, which I did think was a nice touch to personalize her house. I'd really like to know more about the sander your husband used. Sanding is one part of remodeling that I'm not looking forward to.
