A Free Evening at Last

This morning there was a knock on our bedroom door and I thought for sure we had a sick child. Then we heard Janae say "When are you guys getting up? It's 7:08" Oops! My phone, aka our alarm, had died so we overslept by about forty minutes. Luckily the kids get ready for school fairly quickly, so we weren't late.

It truly felt like we were in the Smokies this morning. The sky actually looked like it had smoke coming from it in places. It didn't look like fog because it was moving. More like steam, I guess. It was beautiful!

It was only in the morning though. By afternoon, the sky was crystal clear.

Tonight is the first weeknight we've had free in awhile, so we decided to walk downtown.

There are a lot of shops with touristy memorabilia junk, but there are some pretty cool shops too. Easton wants to show me every little thing he sees. He thinks everything is awesome. 😊 He found this sign he liked and read the whole thing to us. Brett pointed out the irony of the first cabin rule being "sleep in," since we did that this morning. 😁

The kids never pass up a place to pose for a picture. Especially Janae. She loves getting her picture taken. She is lucky she is so photogenic! She definitely gets that from Brett. 😑

We made it all the way to the end of the strip, so we figured we had earned a meal at Texas Roadhouse. 😁

Awe, Janae loves her mommy! 😂

One last stop before we rounded the corner to head home. We had a wonderful evening. It was a lot cooler than it has been, so it was a really nice night. This is how I pictured our evenings in Gatlinburg. I'm glad we finally had a free night to really enjoy it here!
