Janae's Fashion Show

The kids have a four day holiday weekend, so I was hoping to sleep in today. No such luck. The workers called and said they would be coming early today. That was fine by me though. I am ready to have everything finished!

The school has a much stricter dress code than we are used to, so I told Janae I would take her to get a few outfits today. They are not allowed to wear leggings unless they have pockets on the backside. Not even with a long shirt or dress! I would be in trouble because I live in my leggings. Half of my closest is tunics and dresses that go with leggings! They can't wear sweats... Not that she would ever want to, but I know some kids do. Their shorts can be no shorter than four inches above the knee (high school is only two!). I am completely fine with the dress code and am glad to hear that it is strictly enforced. I like rules. Haha

We went to Justice first and she tried on outfit after outfit. We had a lot of fun! She turned down some of the things that I picked out which made me laugh because I think I have good taste! 😂 We actually spent so much money there that I opened up a card to save 15%, which I never do! That was the end of shopping for Janae. 😁

Next we went to Kirkland's. Janae found some readers that she really liked. She did look cute in them but no need for those!

I must have been all shopped our from yesterday because I was pretty much done after that. Janae was too since she knew she wasn't getting anything else. 😂. We stopped to get some quick lunch. While we were in the drive-up, I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a little boy, probably 3 years old, not in a car seat or seat belt and in the front seat of a truck. Then I saw the door open on the passenger's side and water running down the pavement. I realized then that the little boy was standing in the seat peeing out the door! Oh my, you see it all here in Tennessee! 😂

Once we got home, I told Janae she should do a fashion show for Brett. She was in her room and trying on her new clothes in about three seconds flat. 😁 Here are the outfits she picked out:

After the fashion show I took a little nap and apparently missed out on all the excitement! Brett got some great pictures of a little bear cub down at the bottom of the house and then climbing up a tree.

I finished painting the cabinets this afternoon and got started on the walls. We weren't sure about this color, but I really like it! Most of it will be covered up at the bottom with a white with gray grout backsplash, so there won't be nearly as much showing as there is now. I just wanted to get some paint on there so the kitchen felt new!

The new cabinets and countertops come on Tuesday, then appliances in Thursday. It's all coming together! 😊
