Weekend at Last

Well, we now know that our alarm works and that if it goes off the police will be here in about two minutes. We found this out at 5:00 this morning when Brett got up to go to the bathroom. His motion set off the alarm. He thought he had set it to Stay but apparently he set it to Away! It was reassuring to know it works though!

Today we took our first trip to Splash Country since we got here.
We have season passes, so we can get in an hour before the park officially opens. This is great because it's much easier to find chairs and the lines are really short. We only stayed for three hours so we could head to the storage unit and get some more things put away at home.

The view from the storage unit is even beautiful!
Brett and Janae ran into a little bit of traffic on their way back from their second trip. The weekend traffic is much busier than the weekday traffic. Luckily the storage unit is only a few miles from our house.
While they were stuck in traffic, Easton was sitting on my bed and spotted the bear cub in the driveway. We went out on the deck to watch it and along came the mama down at the base of the house. She checked out our "Gaff" sign and then scurried up the hill to the road above us.

We decided tonight would be our first trip to the church Brett had visited earlier this year, Pathways. It's in Sevierville and about 25 minutes away.
It is a non-denominational church, but the Pastor, Brent, comes from a Nazarene background. The boys each have a classroom to go to and Janae sat in the service with us. Middle school students have a service on Tuesdays, so I have decided that will be my grocery night while she's at church. 😊

The praise music was really good and right up my alley. The songs were familiar to us, so it was easy to feel comfortable and really get into the worship.
Pastor Brent shared a moving story about the loss of his father just a few days ago. His father started the church 21 years ago. About two weeks ago, Brent's family dog died. His son was very upset and his father came over to be with him. The family was at the top of a hill burying the dog and Brent's father tried to climb the hill to get to his grandson and comfort him, even though they told him to stay at the bottom. He lost his footing and stumbled backwards, hitting his head on a brick wall. He suffered major head trauma and was in a coma for ten days before going home to be with Jesus. Hearing this just about broke my heart, but as Pastor Brent reminded us, it's so much easier to make it through tough times like these when you have Christ in your heart. We really enjoyed the rest of the sermon. Brett and I both said how much his preaching reminded us of Pastor White, which is what we were looking for!

On a side note, one of the songs we sang tonight on our first night was "We Believe," a song that we sang at our last service back home. I don't think this was a coincidence. 😊

The boys also really enjoyed their classes and Talan said "So is this our church?" When we asked them both if they wanted it to be they said "Yes!" That's really important to us so we will definitely be going back.

Here are a few more pictures at the church:

After church we stopped at KFC for dinner and then headed home to do some more unpacking and decorating. Of course, Princess Janae is getting her room done the fastest. I don't know how many boxes they brought back that were just hers!

We also got a few things done in our bedroom. I love our king bed! 😍 After sleeping in a full bed or smaller my entire life, this bed feels like a little slice of heaven. 😁
Most of the decorations for our bedroom are brand new so it felt like Christmas opening those boxes! Here are a few peeks:

The living room is pretty much a disaster right now, but we did manage to get a few things organized and hung, at least for now. 😉

Tomorrow we are going to go hiking and enjoy God's country! We're really excited about all of the opportunities we have here to spend time together and to be more active.
