Work, work, work

The kids woke up early today, ready to get some more work done. First they had to refuel though!
Talan looks like he just saw a bear. 😁 It about killed Easton to put on old clothes for painting. He is very particular when it comes to clothes, and a white shirt with plaid boxers was not his outfit of choice!
After breakfast we went straight to work. The living room has the least amount of work to be done, so we started there, sweeping and painting the ceiling. That ceiling fan had to go too. The blades were all droopy and the light shades were just plain ugly. 😊
Easton is a pro with the sweeper and he loves doing it!
Painting the ceiling was not a fun task! Luckily Brett is tall enough to reach it because we only have a step ladder and I'm afraid of heights anyway. 😂

 Finally empty!
I love my new fan that Randy installed for me!

The kids became the deconstruction crew, ripping off all of the trim and carrying it to the pile outside.
Easton took off all of the outlet covers and replaced them all. He is quite the little handyman!

We had to take a little break to watch the cub that was right outside Janae's bedroom window. In person he looked much closer!

Finally it was time to paint. The moment Janae has been waiting for for two days. She's been soooooo excited to paint her room, so we started there.
All of the bedrooms are going to be this same light gray. I did a happy dance and squealed after I saw it dry. I love it!

Since no one took any pictures of me working, I decided to take one of myself and my crazy hair, which I actually quite like! I credit my sister-in-law Jill Gaff for this amazing haircut! 😘 It's so much fun to work with.

Until tomorrow! 😊

We made it!

We made it down to our house safe and sound! Talan took good care of Missy and she made it the whole way without getting sick.

We ended up being able to get into our house a day early, which was great because apparently when hotels says Pet Friendly they only mean dogs! No one would let us stay with cats. In cages, mind you!

We spent the night cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. My mom would be so proud of me! 😂
By early evening the kids were exhausted. They have helped so much already. They were zonked!

They did wake up for a celebratory dinner at our favorite pizza joint, Mellow Mushroom.

On our way back to the house, Brett turned onto our road and there was a big bear standing right in the middle of the road. It's going to take a while to get used to seeing that!

Welcome!

Welcome to our family blog, Adventures on Silverbell Lane. We hope to use this blog as a way to keep connected with all of our family and friends! We will be posting pictures of our house and remodeling projects, the kids in their school activities, and all of our adventures in our new city.

For those of you who don't know, our new home is located about a quarter mile off the main strip in Gatlinburg, TN. Brett likes to call it our tree house, because even though it's in city limits, it's on the side of a hill, surrounded by trees. It's so peaceful and easy to forget you are minutes from a huge tourist destination!

Here is the current view of our house from the bottom of our driveway:
This view will be changing shortly and we can't wait to show you the improvements we are making! Our current countdown to moving is just over two days. We can't wait to get down there and start making this our home!

You can enter your email address above to subscribe to our blog if you are on web view. We hope you enjoy our updates!
